Home Inventory

When I bought my house almost 7 years ago, my dad told me I should make a list of everything in my house in case anything happened because the insurance company would need this for the claim. Of course, I brushed him off – what happens in Atlanta? No tornados, no hurricanes… it gets unbearably hot and mildly cold. Flash forward to last year when a close friend had a water main break in his condo building and has spent the past year plus going back and forth with insurance to get his home fixed.

DON’T LET THIS BE YOU!!!

According to REALTOR, Jaci Quincy of JQ Realty, home inventories are key to making sure your insurance claim is complete. “Everyone remembers the big things – TVs, stereo systems, appliances, etc. but there are other valuables that are easily forgotten, especially in the face of disaster.”

Quincy adds, “some of the more valuable items may require an appraisal” and that’s important to have so you can ensure you are getting the full value of your lost item. Once you create your home inventory, you will want to make sure to store it on the cloud or in a fir proof safe. I also suggest emailing it to a loved one as a back-up.

While creating a home inventory is an easy task, it is tedious to take pictures of everything and then compile it into a document. We recommend reaching out to your insurance company to confirm everything that your policy requires but that is where we come in!

Starting immediately, Keepin’ It Real Organized will be offering Home Inventory services! With this service, we will come to your home, take pictures of your belongings, and create a home inventory sheet. We will do the heavy lifting so that you are prepared for the unthinkable.
