Packing Tips

We are in the thick of summer travel and we want to help make the packing experience just a little bit less of a pain point. Personally, I hate packing. I like to pack for every scenario and then some. But with the airlines charging for checked bags, I must reign it in. And I’m only one person. I can’t imagine having to pack for littles and a spouse.

Here are my favorite packing tips:

  • Packing cubes: I discovered these a couple of years ago and I have not turned back! Packing cubes allow you to keep everything contained in your suitcase. And with a family to pack for, you can give each family member a different color to keep things organized within the suitcase(s). They also make for easy unpacking when you get to your destination, so you are not digging around your suitcase the entire time.

  • Toiletries to go bags: Like most women, I have brand specific face and skin care routines from which I don’t stray. I buy a set of travel toiletries containers, and keep them filled with my products, and keep them packed in my toiletries bag so when it’s time to go, I only need to add prescription medication.

    • To save even more time, I refill them when I get back, so they are ready the next time I am jumping on the road!

    • Keeping a set of toiletries for the kids handy also helps when they have a sleepover they are going to – throw it in the bag.

  • My last travel tip is to use bags to contain things – toys, electronic cords, make-up, essential oils, etc. If I know you, I know you have a few extra cosmetic bags laying around. Put them to good use by keeping all your cords in them. Makes them easy to find when your phone is on 3% in the Uber. I also recommend these Velcro cord keepers to keep your cords un-tangled!
